What is Slick-Wrap© ?
Slick-Wrap© is a specially formulated fiberglass tape designed to repair water lines, sewer lines, fluid lines, and virtually anything that transports fluids.

What Pressures will Slick-Wrap© support?
Slick-Wrap© has been tested to support up to 300 PSI in pressurized lines and was able to prevent infiltration by maintaining a pure vacuum.

What types of tools are needed in applying Slick-Wrap©?
No tools are required when applying Slick-Wrap© to pipes as long as there is no corrosion, or coatings of any kind on the pipes when applied.

At what temperature will Slick-Wrap© work?
Slick-Wrap© has been tested in many temperatures ranging from 100 degrees F. to -60 degrees F. Because of the need for moisture (water) to start the chemical reaction, the temperature variations only have a bearing on the time frame for the complete curing process to occur. Complete cure in 30-40 minutes.

Can Slick-Wrap© be used on gas pipes?
Slick-Wrap© can be used to prevent gas leaks from corrosion of pipes caused by the elements. Anyone working with gas pipes should be certified in that area before attempting any repairs.

On what types of pipes can Slick-Wrap© be used?
Slick-Wrap© can be applied to all types of pipes including PVC, Cast Iron, Galvanized, and Clay to name a few. The uniqueness of Slick-Wrap© lies in its EPA approval for use on drinking water lines, as well as being suitable for sewer, irrigation, and chemical lines.

What are the chances of the section of pipe breaking again after applying Slick-Wrap© ?
Not only does Slick-Wrap© seal leaks in pipes, it also strengthens the vulnerable area of the damaged pipe
causing it to be even stronger in most instances than it was before.

Is Slick-Wrap© a permanent repair?
Slick-Wrap© can be considered a permanent repair in most industry and home uses. It can also be used as an emergency fix until a maintenance crew has the time to fit the damaged area into their maintenance schedule. Either way, Slick-Wrap© enables the home owner or maintenance supervisor to make that decision.

SLICK-WRAP™ INSTRUCTIONS WITH EPOXY PUTTY 

1. Remove all pressure from damaged section of pipe before attempting repair.
2. Remove all oil, grease, loose rust scale, sealant tape, paint and hardware from area to be repaired.
3. Put on latex gloves (gloves go on best when hands are dry).
4. Remove putty from kit. Twist/Cut/Break off enough putty to fill repair area and overlap on to piping.
5. Knead putty to uniform color (consistent gray color free from black specs).
6. Apply kneaded putty into repair area tapering putty on to piping. Putty repair should be in place before
hardening begins (usually 2 minutes). If making repair while submerged in fluid, work putty into repair area
and hold until adhesion begins.
7. Open foil pouch. Remove tape and drop in pail of water or pour water in the foil pouch. To ensure water
is distributed to all portions of the tape, squeeze the tape for at least 20-30 seconds. If using pouch to wet
tape, allow at least 1 minute to soak tape.
8. Starting on the opposite side of the break, begin to wrap the tape, keeping tension applied to the tape
at all times. Continue to wrap the tape, moving from left to right until the leaking area has tape applied 2
inches (5 cm) on either side, and has at least 8 to 10 layers directly over the leak. (Use all tape in package
as tape cannot be saved for future use once foil pouch is opened).
9. Once all tape has been applied to leak, grab the taped area, squeezing firmly, and rotate your hand in direction
of wrap. This causes all bottom layers of tape to tighten in case they become loose.
10. As the resin begins to cure bubbling will occur. This curing along with some swelling of the resins will give the
tape a tendency to unwrap. YOU MUST MAINTAIN PRESSURE TO PREVENT UNWRAPPING. Continue to apply
pressure in the direction of the wrap until the curing process has advanced enough to hold itself in place without
backing off. As curing takes place, the tape will become very sticky. At room temperature the wrapping part of your repair should take between 12-15 minutes.
11. Allow 30-40 minutes for final curing. It will take longer in subzero temperatures.
12. Cleanup can be done at this time using alcohol or acetone.
13. After final cure has occurred, tape can be sanded and painted if desired.
