Diatomaceous Earth |

Diatomaceous earth powder is made from the skeletons of
freshwater
diatoms, a single celled plant that flourished in prehistoric
times. The
standard for pre-coating a DE filter is 1 pound of DE for every
10 square
feet of filter surface area. A good unit of measure is a 1 pound
coffee can which holds 1/2 pound of DE.
